One of the best attended gatherings of Cosmic Greys enjoyed a sumptuous lunch at the Royal Hotel in Darlington - on the fringe of our old Alma Mater.
Can anyone suggest a collective noun for a group of Cosmic Greys?
This excellent turn out was due entirely to the excellent organisation skills of Mr Yan (aka Michael Ryan).

Alas, too many years have passed for recognitions of those photogenic old folks. Perhaps large name tags should be mandatory before memories fade too much more. Just kidding - that would spoil the guessing game.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I had a nice nostalgic trip via Google street map/vista to the regions about the address of the Royal Hotel meeting place published by MrYan as I was fascinated by the reference to how close Redfern station was. I thought at first the hotel was near Ross Street, where one night going to SydUni a drunk and presumably uninsured driver in front of me rear-ended a car in front and reversed away at high speed chased by a lad from the victim's car. Finally, I got my bearings. I did recognize some things as I attended SydUni in the 1990s when it had really expanded over City Road. I used the Shepherd Street carpark at night. That was a mere 30 years ago! This week I got a shock to see the news items on YouTube about the "Rozelle Interchange". I just did not recognize the area I used to drive through every day - what a mess - it was bad enough in the old days. It's a bit spooky that YouTube thought I would be interested in that area (Big Brother?). I'm glad I'm in sedate Adelaide where we have the local "West Lakes Interchange" with at most a couple of buses under the local Westfield Shopping Centre and no traffic jams! I must confess it's a long way from the big smoke - by rail we have to pass through Melbourne and change trains to go to Sydney.
